"Our special services are keeping their fingers on the pulse. All our strength will be aimed at having the summit take place in a dignified manner and not to allow under any terms such things as happened in Genoa," the newspaper Izvestia quoted Vladimir Kozhin, a Kremlin organizing official, as saying.

Protest organizers had said they expect around 2,000 participants, but claim they are getting many reports of police barring activists from boarding trains to St. Petersburg.
